What is a SWIFT/BIC code?
A SWIFT code — also called a BIC (Bank Identifier Code, ISO 9362) — identifies a bank branch in international payments. It is 8 characters long, or 11 when a branch code is included: 4 letters for the institution, 2 letters for the ISO country code, 2 characters for the location, and an optional 3-character branch code.
